What you should expect
Acupuncture is different for everyone. Needle insertion may cause no sensation, a muscle twitch or a strong, tingling, warming or energy moving sensation. Certain areas of the body may be more sensitive and one's physical, mental and emotional states affect each individual's experience. Some may respond extremely well and quickly, while others may need to acclimate to the changes.
Treatment plans are based on the individual. There is no set number of sessions to achieve one's optimal health. Some may achieve their goal with a certain number of treatments, while others may choose preventative or maintenance treatments.
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient system of medicine that originated in Asia 3,500 years ago. As a licensed acupuncturist, Corinne inserts fine needles into specific points on energy pathways (meridians) to promote healing and balance the energy (Qi). Treatment may include moxibustion, cupping, Gua Sha and Tui Na. Corinne prefers this technique for fertility support, gynecological irregularities, allergies, insomnia, anxiety, stress, fatigue, gastrointestional issues, tinnitus, end of life (hospice) care and more.
Trigger Point Acupuncture
Trigger point acupuncture targets the tight, palpable knots located in skeletal muscles. This acupuncture involves dry needling the knot and eliciting repeated, involuntary twitching from the muscle. Although the area tends to feel sore, this technique leads to reduction or elimination of muscle tightness. Corinne has success using this technique to treat muscle injuries/strains/sprain, migraines, headaches, repetitive strain, post-surgical recovery and general wear and tear from training.
Derived from plant, animal and mineral sources, Chinese herbal formulas have been developed and tested for thousands of years. Considered a safe method of treatment, Chinese herbs have been used effectively for various syndromes and diseases with little to no side effects. As a board certified herbalist, Corinne will review your relevant medical history and symptoms to develop a personalized treatment plan. Herbs are typically formulas of multiple herbs taken orally as tea, capsules or tablets. Since she does not sell herbs directly, Corinne will provide you with the location and/or link to buy the recommend herbs.
